She is a single mother of two young elementary school girls. Life has been a struggle since her husband left and does not contribute financially to their care. Finding a job where she lives is difficult and some would say almost impossible. She was unable to pay her rent for some time, having to make the harsh choices of feeding and clothing her family or putting a roof over their heads. Pride kept her from explaining to friends and family.

Her alcoholic landlord collected rent sporadically, and she thought he was just letting it go. She didn't want to ask, so she just continued as she had been, using her limited funds for everything except rent. However, recently he began to demand that she pay his money or leave by the first of the month. Because she had nowhere else to go, she took her girls and went to her mother’s. While there, a family friend learned of the situation and offered a house in another town, rent free for a year, until the young mother can find a better job. The kindness comes at a sacrifice to the family friend, as she usually rents the property to wealthy vacationers. Friend, you are appreciated!
