One dark, cold, winter night, I heard someone screaming outside. I looked out my window, but couldn't see anyone. The screams frightened my family, but we felt that we had to go out to investigate. We found that a woman had slipped on the sidewalk across the street and was injured and unable to move. We called 911 and brought out a pillow & blanket & waited with her until the ambulance came. Weeks later, while recuperating, she sent us a card, thanking us for coming to her rescue.
