The Accident
One dark, cold, winter night, I heard someone screaming outside. I looked out my window, but couldn't see anyone. The screams frightened my family, but we felt that we had to go out to investigate. We found that a woman had slipped on the sidewalk across the street and was injured and unable to move. We called 911 and brought out a pillow & blanket & waited with her until the ambulance came. Weeks later, while recuperating, she sent us a card, thanking us for coming to her rescue.Read more

Protectors of Freedom in Uniform
I used to travel quite a bit for work and at almost every airport I would see our service people who are putting their lives at risk to protect our way of life. I would always offer to buy then a meal at the airport. They were surprised, told me it was not necesary, and always very grateful.
It was not a big deal for me but it was clearly something big for them. I was told that it was great to know that "Average Joe American" was behind them.

Taking Out The Garbage
One Tuesday, I was on my way home from a long day at work, when I realized that I hadn’t taken my garbage out that morning. I groaned to myself, thinking of the overflowing pail of garbage I would have to face for the next week. But when I came home, I saw my garbage out front and empty! My neighbor confessed to being the one who took the extra minute and helped me out. I think we all have to take the extra time when doing something for ourselves and think, “Is there anyone else who could use my help without even knowing about it or asking for it?”

The Repairman
It was a sweltering hot day, and the phone repair guy had been going at it for a while in front of my house. Every little while, I sent my son out with cold drinks. It was no big deal for me, but he was so appreciative!

Welcome Home
My elderly neighbor’s son was coming home after a long time of serving in Iraq, so my kids and I went over and hung ‘welcome home’ signs, balloons, and streamers on their front door.
Great Suprise
A couple of months ago, my husband suffered from a severe heart attack. He came home a few days ago, weak but recovering. My friend surprised us and sent over a basket, filled with goodies and a card from every child in the neighborhood, wishing my husband a quick recovery.

Nursing Home
Lisa, a friend of mine, goes to the local nursing home whenever she has the time and does the resident’s nails while talking with them. I was speaking to one of the nurses there, and she told me that the ladies wait at the window for Lisa to come. I happen to be an artist, so now I go with her and draw things for the residents to hang up in their rooms. Now, when we drive up to the nursing home together, I see them waiting at the window too.

Kind Teacher
This isn’t what you would call a ‘random’ act of kindness, it’s kind enough to post. My daughter has a very hard time in school- she’s borderline learning disabled. Her teacher called her over one day after class and told her that every day, she would tell her in advance a question that she would ask her the next day- with the answer. My daughter came home the next day glowing. “Mom,” she said to me, “today was the first day ever that I knew an answer!”
